An offbeat place, head to Dalai Hill (3.7 kms from the resort) which is the first Indian home of the Dalai Lama. Trek to the Buddhist temple he established, which is open to all, and is the heartbeat of Mussoorie’s Tibetan colony. Ask our manager to arrange a hike for you. Another unmissable spot is the estate of Sir George Everest, the Surveyor General of India and the man after whom the world’s tallest peak is named. The views are particularly striking: Doon Valley on one side and the snow-capped Himalayas on the other. After soaking in the views, head to Mall Road which has steep lanes that are lined with everything from video game parlours and skating rinks, to stores selling wooden and leather artefacts, and even winter essentials and souvenirs.
