Tourist Attraction in Corbett

FLORA AND FAUNA - Corbett Dhikala, the core area is the centre of all tourist actions in Corbett. The diverse topography of the region with islands of sheesham and sal trees, thickly foliated green pastures is just incredible. This habitat thrives with wildlife of captivating beauty including 25 reptiles, 50 mammals, and 577 bird species. The Ramganga River is teeming with mugger, gharial, mahseer. Flocks of cormorants also visit this region during winters. Tigers are the main attraction though they are not the only cats in this jungle. There are also jungle cats, , leopards and fishing cats can also be seen. Other wild animals likesloth bear, Himalayan black bear, yellow-throated marten, dhole, jackal, Himalayan palm civet, common otter, porcupine, Indian grey mongoose, and black-naped hare. 4 species of Deer, namely, para deer, barking deer, kakkar deer, and spotted-deer chital and an antelope’s specie, locally known as the ghoral, are also found. Elephant safaris can take you to all parts of the park. Jeep safaris are also available for a quick visit in the park. 

NATURE WALKING - The Park offers invaluable experiences for adventurous wildlife buffs, anglers and photographers in Corbett National Park. Walking in some areas is allowed only in the company of a guide as encounter with the tigers is not an unusual event. The reserve has over 580 species of birds, mostly of the migrant variety, which turn up here in winter. Some regular species include graylag, bareheaded goose, snipe, sandpiper, duck, grepe, gull and wagtail. The resident species include herons, egrets, darters, cormorants, the black-necked stork, and the spur-winged lapwings . For the daredevils, the park has several reptile species like fish-eating, long-nosed crocodiles, the Indian python, viper, a few species of turtles and tortoises, king cobra and krait inhabiting the park.
