Tourist Attraction in Coimbatore

VOC PARK AND ZOO (AMUSEMENT PARK) - Named after the renowned freedom fighter V. O. Chidambaram, the VOC Park is especially popular among kids. For the young ones, the main attractions include the aquarium, having a good collection of aquatic life, a mini zoo, and a toy train. 






AGRICULTURE UNIVERSITY
 - The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is 5 kms away from the railway station. One of the best of its kind in South Asia, the university houses a botanical garden a major source of attraction here. The garden has a good assortment of flowering plants and trees. It is spread over an area of 300 hectares. 





PERUR TEMPLE
 - Perur, a small town at 6 km from Coimbatore, is the famous for holy Perur Temple. It is one of the seven Kongu Sivalayams. The outer buildings were built in the 17th century by rulers of Madurai but the inner shrine is much older. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. One of the notable features is the figure of a sepoy loading a musket engraved on the bottom of the pillar near the entrance, wearing dress identical those of the Aurangzeb’s soldiers. 



MARUDHAMALAI TEMPLE
 - Located 12 km from Railway Station, the temple of Marudhamalai, devoted to Lord Subramanya, among the most popular temples in the region. The reason for its popularity is that the residing god Dandayuthapani has performed several miracles here. Tirukarthigai and Thai Poosam festivals are celebrated with great splendor and gaiety at this temple. 




FOREST COLLEGE
 - Located 3.5 km north of the Railway Station, the Forest College is among the oldest institutions of its kind. The College Museum has an interesting collection of a wide range of minerals, pests, rocks, snakes, insects and fungal diseases affecting plants and trees. The college also offers training to forest rangers.
